At $3B in TVL and 100k+ users, Veda is one of the fastest growing DeFi protocols that launched in 2024. Our team is passionate about DeFi and dedicated to our work. This role will be high impact and have the opportunity to directly shape some of the most critical infrastructure in DeFi.

Move on Sui Smart Contract Engineer (Remote) (Full-Time)

We seek individuals with high agency to join us in defining the next phase of DeFi growth and adoption. The ideal candidate takes ownership, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and adapts swiftly to evolving demands.

As a Move on Sui Developer, you will design, implement, and optimize smart contracts and DeFi protocols on the Sui blockchain. With a special focus on vault architecture and security, you'll be responsible for creating robust financial applications that maintain the highest standards of security while delivering exceptional performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop smart contracts and DeFi protocols for Move on Sui
  • Build and optimize secure vault systems for asset management and yield strategies
  • Implement efficient token economics and governance mechanisms
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure protocols are protected against exploits
  • Integrate with existing DeFi protocols and establish cross-protocol compatibility
  • Optimize code for Sui’s execution environment
  • Conduct thorough testing and debugging of smart contracts
  • Research and implement innovative solutions to improve scalability and reduce transaction costs
  • Stay current with the latest developments in the Sui/Move ecosystem and DeFi space
  • Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing

Basic Qualifications:

  • Strong programming experience in Rust and/or Move (Sui Move)
  • Proven experience designing, building, and deploying production-grade smart contracts on the Sui blockchain (or other Move-based networks)
  • Thorough understanding of Sui’s execution environment—the object-centric data model, ownership & mutability rules, gas metering, and parallelized transaction processing (Narwhal / Bullshark)
  • Experience building DeFi protocols on Sui (lending, trading, liquidity provisioning, yield strategies, vaults, etc.) and optimizing them for throughput and composability
  • Deep knowledge of cryptography and blockchain security best practices, plus familiarity with Move’s resource-safety guarantees and Sui-specific attack surfaces (e.g., invariant violations, capability misuse, gas-exhaustion vectors)
  • Familiarity with the Sui Framework, Move Standard Library, and core ecosystem tools (Sui CLI, sui.js / TypeScript SDK, Sui Explorer, Mysten Wallet, local test validator)
  • Understanding of vault / asset-management architectures and how they map to Sui’s object model and capability system
  • Experience implementing and reviewing on-chain security patterns—auditing Move code, writing property-based tests, and mitigating common vulnerabilities
  • Solid grasp of financial concepts as they apply to decentralized finance—liquidity, risk, collateralization, yield curves, pricing oracles, etc.
  • Problem-solving attitude and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment—comfortable iterating quickly, owning features end-to-end, and interfacing with protocol engineers, auditors, and product teams

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience building vault protocols on Sui or other Move-based blockchains
  • Contributions to open-source Sui or Move-based projects
  • Knowledge of other blockchain platforms (Ethereum, Near, etc.) for cross-chain compatibility
  • Background in quantitative finance or traditional financial systems
  • Understanding of market-making, liquidity provision, and automated strategies
  • Experience with protocol governance and tokenomics design
  • Track record of creating audited and battle-tested smart contracts
  • Familiarity with front-end frameworks for dApp development (React, etc.)

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay Range: $150,000 - $250,000/per year
