Role Description:
As a People Generalist, you’ll provide essential HR support across employee experience and people operations. This is a versatile, execution oriented role, and a key member of the People team. You will be the first point of contact for team members and manage end-to-end People processes, including onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle management. You will have the opportunity to wear many hats, lead complex projects, and execute against a People strategy that has a direct impact on our team members.
Compensation: $80,000—$100,000 USD
Preferred timezone: Any US/Canada timezone (Fully remote)
Responsibilities
Employee Experience
Serve as a first point of contact for team members, offering prompt HR support and guidance on HR-related inquiries
Manage onboarding processes for new hires and role conversions, including drafting employment letters, coordinating orientation, system onboarding, and ensuring a smooth integration
Support the offboarding process for exiting employees, including separation paperwork, gathering insights through exit surveys, and system offboarding
Assist in developing and implementing employee engagement initiatives (e.g. surveys) to improve overall team experience
Assist in coordinating semi-annual company offsites, from site research and vendor communications to planning activities
Partner with key stakeholders to develop, update and manage the People Notion space, global policies, and company handbook
Conduct processes and data audits, identifying opportunities to streamline operations and implement solutions with a focus on downstream impact
People Operations
Maintain up-to-date personnel records, conducting regular audits to ensure data accuracy, policy compliance, and optimal HR operations
Oversee payroll processing for global team members and collaborate with Operations on contractor payments, commissions, and other payroll transactions
Address team member inquiries on benefits and administer programs such as health insurance, leaves, retirement plans, Open Enrollment, and other perks
Assist with managing people systems (e.g. PEO, EOR) and contribute to the research and implementation of a HRIS
Design and optimize workflows, playbooks, and processes to emphasize efficiency and scalability, emphasizing technology and automation
Ensure compliance by managing mandatory training initiatives, including anti-harassment training
Conduct routine compliance audits to uphold legal and policy standards
Manage equipment inventory (e.g. laptops) and oversee digital mail (e.g. Earth Class Mail)
Stay current with relevant employment laws and regulations domestically and internationally to ensure compliance in all HR operations
Qualifications
Excellent interpersonal skills with professionalism and discretion handling complex and sensitive situations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fostering clear and open channels of communication
Proactive and adaptable, thriving in a collaborative, remote-first work environment
Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all tasks
Familiarity with a range of employment arrangements, including US-based employees, international employees, contractors, and contingent workers
Experience with onboarding and offboarding processes across both U.S. and international
Benefits administration and immigration, a plus
Requirements
BA/BS degree is required
3 years in People Operations experience, preferably in a tech or startup environment
Knowledge of U.S. employment laws across multiple states and international employment regulations
Proven discretion and sound judgment handling sensitive and confidential data
Strong project management skills, capable of independently driving programs and executing projects
Analytical and data management skills, with an ability to interpret trends and derive actionable insights
Technological proficiency, especially with tools such as Airtable or Asana
Experience with PEOs (e.g. JustWorks, Deel, Rippling) and HRIS/ATS platforms such as BambooHR, Namely, Workday, JazzHR, Greenhouse
Advanced GSuite skills (Sheets, Docs, Slides, Forms) and experience with remote communication tools such as Slack or Discord
